Establishing Nigeria’s First-Ever Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Simulation Training Center
During the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of health workers – our frontline soldiers in the fight – have been infected and many have lost their lives.
To get through this COVID-19 pandemic and build a better prepared, more resilient health system to keep ourselves, our families, and our country safe for the future, we must invest in building capacity and equipping our health workforce. Through this IPC Simulation Training Center, DRASA will train at least 10,000 health workers each year.
Support a Youth Health & Hygiene Ambassador
Nigeria’s large youthful population and the extremely poor state of hygiene in most schools and low-resource communities means that the majority of the country is exposed to unsanitary environments where infectious diseases quickly spread. It’s a sad situation. But you can help us change this story.
N7,500/month or $20/month equips and empowers 1 student over 10 months to become a DRASA Health and Hygiene Ambassador – improving health and promoting good hygiene practices in their schools, families, communities, and circles of influence.
Improve Community Health & Sanitation
Poor access to clean water, open urination and defecation, and lack of proper hygiene and sanitation are prevalent in many communities across Nigeria, increasing the spread of infectious diseases. Yet many people do not understand health risks they face every day or how to keep themselves and their loved ones infection-free and healthy.
N5,500/month or $15/month provides 1 DRASA Hygiene Kit and allows us to empower leaders and influencers in a low-resource community to improve their community’s health. The Hygiene Kit includes essential products such as antibacterial soap and deodorant and is accompanied by DRASA’s interactive and educational teaching on maintaining personal hygiene as well as practical interventions to keep their environment clean.
Provide Lifesaving Medical Training
As we saw with Dr. Adadevoh, frontline health workers are often the first line of defense against infectious disease outbreaks and public health threats. The decisions they make can either save lives or cause infections to spread further so they need comprehensive training on how to properly identify and quickly contain infectious patients.
N7,500/month or $20/month for 1 year fills this gap and provides lifesaving training for 1 health worker to help them prevent, detect, and contain deadly infections – protecting their patients, their colleagues, the wider community, and themselves.
